Commenting on the Retail PMI survey data, Tim Moore, senior economist at Markit and author of the report said:
“Germany’s retail sector saw a rebound in sales during August, with the latest data showing the strongest monthly rise since April. This is somewhat unexpected given the backdrop of weakening economic conditions and an intensifying sovereign debt crisis in the euro area. On a less positive note, wholesale price inflation continued to creep higher in August and reached its strongest level for just over three years.”
